Essaouira, Morocco - quad biking

I never thought I would go quad biking in Morocco. It's not something I have ever particularly wanted to do but when Josh and Georgie said they were going to do it, I thought why not! And everyone else seemed to think the same. So when Aziz came back to the restaurant on our first day in the Medina, we booked for the next day and gave him a deposit.

After spending the morning in the medina once again we were picked up at our hotels reception by Aziz's cousin. He took us to the home of the quad bikes and we had helmets shoved on our heads.

Once they finally found a helmet to fit kipper- apparently she has a big head- we were off! I shared a bike with my brother. He drove first which meant I was free to take some pictures. We got to see so much more landscape than if we hadn't gone on this tour! It was truly spectacular. We drove over dunes and beaches, woods and cliffs. It was amazing.

When we booked the tour we were told we were going to visit the hippy village that Hendrix visited but we never did and I'm not sure why. We did see a camel which holly tried to chase and got herself stuck in a ditch. And we did visit a private beach also where we interrupted a mans meditation.

My brother drove us out of the dunes. At one point our leaders stopped and there was a very steep drop that we were meant to drive down. Holly was afraid to go so my brother stepped up and threw us off te edge which was lots of fun but then despite me telling him otherwise he decided to try and drive back up. We got stuck, I got off, filled my shoes with sand and watched my brother being helped down.
When we reached the beach again we swapped drivers and it was my turn. My brother had tried hard to throw me off the bike while he drove so I true to make it interesting for him also, not as eat on a flat beach. I got to drive super fast though and race Georgie which was fun!

Our last stop was the castle in the sand that inspired the Hendrix song!

When we finished the tour we went to Aziz's Riad where he served us not tea and we watched the sunset.
The following photos are Georgie's as I didn't take many in the Riad. Also the ones of me on the bike are hers too.

Essaouira, Morocco - The Medina Part Two

The colour and life of Morocco is reflected in the buildings and design at every turn. I love all the colours and patterns and snapped as much as I could. I only went into one Riad so most of my pictures are of exteriors with occasional peek through an open door. The buildings aren't state of the art but they are raw and rustic and full of character which I adore!
